Dance Contest:

Attention Dance Devisors and Would-Be Dance Devisors!!

We're going to publish ONE new dance to commemorate our 40th anniversary milestone. We will dance it at the anniversary party, of course, and publish the PDF on our website. After we see how many submissions come in, the anniversary committee will finalize the selection process to be as anonymous and as fair as we can make it. If we get deluged with great dances, maybe bigger things will happen :-)

Here's the scoop:

  • Dance devisors must have been a member of the Delaware Valley Branch at some point.
  • You can submit more than one dance, but please choose your VERY BEST ones only.
  • If you have a dance with a name that is dear to you... be forewarned that we will probably (re)name the winning dance appropriately. You can of course suggest a name which relates to the anniversary and/or the Delaware Valley Branch in some way.

  • Submissions are due on or before the Social Dance in Lansdowne, December 12. You can either:
    1. Give Jenny Beer a hard copy (pencil your name lightly on the back)
    2. Email Jenny a copy.

  • Devisors are encouraged but not required to pick a tune written by Delaware Valley musicians to go with their dance. Here are some potential tunes you can select:

    Jane Roberts:

    Ath-Dara Strathspey (PDF) // Ath-Dara Strathspey (MP3)

    Geoffrey's 60th Birthday Jig (PDF) // Geoffrey's 60th Birthday Jig(MP3)

    Josh Burdick

Crum Hornpipe (PDF) // Crum Hornpipe(MP3)

Unnamed Jig (PDF) // Unnamed Jig (MP3)

Other branch-connected musicians are welcome to send their tunes (MP3 & dots) to Jenny.

Meanwhile, in January we'll be collecting Branch memories and memorabilia. Check your attics, photo albums, and back files!
